TRADITIONAL HIGHLAND, CELTIC, AND NORSE HANDFASTING CEREMONIES, BLESSINGS AND VOW RENEWALS

We are Kara and Pall Thormod Morrisson. We are celebrants based in Edinburgh who conduct legal handfastings. In Scotland it is now possible to have a traditional handfasting or wedding ceremony conducted by an approved celebrant which constitutes a legal marriage under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977. This means that you can now have a legally binding wedding ceremony of your choice and design in accordance with your personal spiritual beliefs at your chosen venue, without the necessity of a subsequent ceremony at a registrar's office to legalise the marriage as was previously the case up until a few years ago. The bride and groom may select an outdoors venue such as a sacred site, an historical location such as a castle, palace or estate or a place in the countryside which is special and meaningful to them. The ceremony may also be held indoors.

UNIQUE PERSONALISED CEREMONIES

We have been practising Celtic traditionalists for over 20 years and are experienced in writing and performing different styles of ceremony ranging from traditional Celtic and Scottish Highland ceremonies to Norse, Druidic and Nature-based weddings. We can help you with every step involved in planning the ceremony for your special day including advising on the legal steps involved, meeting up with you to discuss your ideas with regard to the ceremony itself, assisting with the choice of a suitable venue, composing and individually tailored ceremony for you, putting finishing touches together, choreographing and conducting a rehearsal of the wedding and performing the ceremony on the day itself.

"We are still getting comments from people on what a great day they had at the wedding and how much they enjoyed the ceremony."

"Jackie and Sandy's wedding was a moving ceremony in a lovely rural setting and was carried out with much dignity and sincerity."
